Study Background; Cnidoscolous aconitifolius leaf ( Chaya; Efo Iyana ipaja in Yoruba language) is a common vegetable plant served as sauce and has many traditional health benefit claims such as treatment of alcoholism, insomnia, gout, scorpion stings, memory and vision impairment owing to its phytochemical and phytonutrient constituents Aim and Objectives: This work was designed to determine the cholesterol lowering effect of Cnidoscolous aconitifolius in rabbits induced with hypercholesterolemia using egg yolk. Materials and Methods: fifteen (15) rabbits grouped into 3 major classes of 5 rabbits each has A (Control rabbits given only normal meal and water), B1 (5 rabbits give 20% egg yolk of normal meal and water for 7 days), B2 (B1 given 400mg/kgBW of ethanolic extract of Cnidoscolous aconitifolius leaf after egg yolk containing meal), C1 5 rabbits give 20% egg yolk of normal meal and water for 7 days), C2 (C1 given 400mg/kgBW of aqueous extract of Cnidoscolous aconitifolius leaf after egg yolk containing meal). Plasma Total cholesterol(CHOL-T), Low Density Lipoprotein-cholesterol(LDL-C),Total Triglycerides(TG-T), High Density Lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-C) were evaluated in the rabbits by autoanalysis using ROCHE reagent on COBAS C111 autoChemistry analyzer. Result: There was a significant increase in the plasma CHOL-T, LDL-C, TG-T, and HDL-C in the rabbits given 20% of powdered egg yolk of the total meal weight and water for seven days compared with the control rabbits (p<0.05). There was also a significant decrease in the plasma value of CHOL-T, LDL-C and TG-T when the hypercholesterolemic rabbits (B1 and C1) were supplemented with 400mg/kgBW of ethanolic and aqueous of extract Cnidoscolous aconitifolius leaf for 7days (B2 and C2) (p<0.05). Conclusion: Induction of hypercholesterolemia using 20% egg yolk of normal meal and water resulted into a significant increase in plasma value of CHOL-T, LDL-C, TG-T, and HDL-C while supplements of 400mg/kgBW of ethanolic and aqueous extract of Cnidoscolous aconitifolius leaf for 7days significantly reduced the plasma value of CHOL-T, LDL-C and TG-T in the hypercholesterolemic rabbits.
The main purpose of this paper is to investigate the control of the unified power flow controller (UPFC) to improve the stability of a power system hence providing security under increased power flow conditions. The proposed control methods include a direct proportional and integral (PI) controller and a neural adaptive control. The performances of these controllers are evaluated under different operating conditions of the power system and the results demonstrate that PI and neural adaptive control are very effective in improving the transient power system stability and very robust against variable transmission line parameter. The studies are performed based on well known software package MATLAB/Simulink tool box.
Bacteria and fungi are associated via interactions dependent on diverse modalities of molecular communications for their development and functionalities. The resultant impact is the discrete contributions to biogeochemical cycles and biotechnological processes. Interactions among bacteria, fungi and other organisms with inter alia the environment, in medicine, forestry, agriculture and food can pose profound influence in the colonization, pathogenesis and survival of species. There are several reports of bacterial-fungal interactions which are important in nature but whose significance remains to be established. This article is concerned with a review of some examples, with descriptive analysis related to conceptual and operational difficulties associated with them.
ABSTRACT\nThe qualitative and quantitative analysis Aflatoxin M1 was carried out by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The occurrence of AFM1 among 100 tested lactating mothers showed 93% of AFM1 excreted in their urine which shows exposure of the toxin for short time. The study indicated that Urinary excretion of AFM1 among lactating mothers that are unemployed was 100% exposure than the employed mothers with statistical significance. Informal education and primary school leavers had highest exposure of 100% AFM1; the highest was informal education. AFM1 excreted in urine of lactating mothers within 72hrs of food consumption, showed 84% of mothers that took milk were not exposed, meat: 100% were exposed, corn meal: 93.4% exposed, also, date: 93%, ‘Brabisko/ Biski’: 30.6%, imported rice: 77.7%, native rice: 93.4% occurrence taken p< 0.05. In relation to socio-demographic factors expressed the highest concentration among unemployed and age bracket 18-25 and 34-41 with 0.07µg/l.In the case of excretion in urine, 0.05µg/l AFM1 was tested among unemployed with lower concentration among the age of 42 and above having 0.04µg/l. The 100 tested infants showed 68% excreted AFM1 in their urine. The concentration of AFM1 found among infants showed short time exposure of aflatoxin in the infants which is significant, 0.08 µg/l concentration tested higher among 5-6. Urine samples were also observed among 5-6 months to be 0.07µg/l and ≤ 2 months had 0.04µg/l. \nKeywords: Biomarker, Aflatoxin M1 (AFM1), AflatoxinB1 (AFB1), lactating mothers, infants, Urine, HPLC.
This paper proposes an integrated inventory model for manufacturer and retailer in order to achieve a long term sustainable supply chain. Aim of the paper is to maximize their individual as well as joint benefit when units ordered by retailer is actually not delivered by supplier. We determine optimal order quantity and number of shipment in integrated and non-integrated scenario when input is random. This model is analysed for time dependent deteriorating items with fix life time. Sensitivity of different inventory and supply chain parameters is carried out using appropriate data. This model is useful to managers for managing supply chain of drugs, cosmetic, FMCGs and many more.
Popularity means the need to love and to be loved and it is one of the human innate needs. Being truly popular means for a person to treat people with good intentions and honest behavior so they can enter people’s hearts and be loved by them. Considering the significance of this issue, knowing what factors lead to an increase in popularity of athletes among their fans could be a key to an increase in their popularity. This research tries to propose a true and real popularity model for athletes. Mixed method is used in this research. The statistical population in this research in qualitative section included experts in three field of soccer, volleyball and wrestling and in the quantitative section included all fans of the three aforementioned fields in Shiraz County(Iran). In the qualitative section, 16 experts were interviewed qualitatively and in the quantitative section, the questionnaire derived from the analysis of the interviews were distributed among 215 fans. Results suggested that fans considered 23 sub-categories in 4 main categories for popularity of the athletes. These four categories included: being committed to beliefs and values, desirable social relationships, being determined and strong-willed, and having dignity.
In this paper, a framework for the synchronization of two discrete hyperchaotic systems, namely the 3D\ngeneralized Hénon maps, based on the use of output feedback concept and aggregation techniques is proposed and\napplied to a two-channel secure communication design. New sufficient conditions for synchronization are obtained by\nthe use of Borne and Gentina practical stability criterion associated to the forced arrow form matrix for system\ndescription. The application of the proposed approach to hyperchaotic Hénon maps, considered as symmetric\nencryption and decryption keys, proves the efficiency of the proposed communication system to confidentially recover\ntransmitted messages. Numerical simulations are carried out to assess the performance and the efficiency of the\nproposed contributions in the important field of secure information encryption.
In this study a novel diazinon biosensor based on Acetylcholinesterase (AChE) immobilized on Sol-IonicLiquid-Graphene (Sol-IL-Gr) nanocomposite modified electrode is reported. The proposed biosensor accelerated the conversion of substrate (acetylthiocholine chloride) to thiocholin which was electrochemically oxidized at 0.6V vs. calomel reference electrode. In order to improve the efficiency of the proposed biosensor the influence of AChE concentration, pH and substrate concentration on the response of the AChE biosensor was investigated. The Sol-IL-Gr nanocomposite modified biosensor showed a wide linear range from 2 to 60 ?M with a detection limit (LOD = 3Sb/S) of 1.8 ?M for diazinon. This biosensor could provide a simple and sensitive method for diazinon detection in real samples through an effective enzyme immobilization on the electrode surface.
Our research is about the use of the whole public expenditure of operations and equipment as an instrument of economic growth. The traditional and new theoretical doctrines which are stated in our work, indicate that the theoretical framework adapted to the treatment of this problematic belongs to the models of the internally formed growth.\nThe aim of our study is to demonstrate the importance of the total expenditure of STATE on the economic growth in Algeria . To attain this we have considered carefully a variety of different patterns which have dealt with this main object. Thanks to Econometric modeling, we came to the point that expenditures have no effect on the economic growth.
Mental health difficulties of traumatic brain injury (TBI) interfere with rehabilitative interventions and following their discharge from inpatient rehabilitation settings. Little is known in Saudi Arabia about how emotion recognition abilities become affected after TBI. The aim of this study was to determine whether emotion recognition deficits may be additional mental health impairment for adolescents with TBI. A case study of five adolescents with TBI at the outpatient rehabilitation psychology clinic at the Rehabilitation Hospital of King Fahad Medical City (KFMC) was conducted. Deficits in recognizing emotion was reported among the sample. The finding highlights the importance of providing valid neuropsychological assessments in order to target emotion recognition limitations in the rehabilitation interventions programs.
